Creationism Disproved?

This explanation of the evolution of the eye, made by the NCSE, is so easy to understand that even a creationist should be able to understand it. If intelligent design is ever taught in any public school, this video, along with the others in the series, should be shown along side any ID "teachings".

But until there's a single shred of evidence that proves that evolution generates more intelligent DNA than its predecessor, that is then passed down through reproduction, this is all fantasy and you evolutionists are continuing to put your faith in human reason. This video is ridiculous. How many times did she say, "and then this just evolves, and then that, and then that..." The whole point is this stuff doesn't just "evolve" and appear out of thin air. Organisms don't gain information through mutations. The data is there and environmental factors draw out and repress certain information, creating species. But this video does show how ludicrous Darwinian Evolution is. When was the last time science observed a lens evolving?

But obviously it makes you feel better or you wouldn't have posted it.

Sorry. There's no get out of jail free card in life. One day we'll all face a Creator.

Where we put out faith is the question for which we will all be held in account.

Jesus Christ, what in the fuck is wrong with you? I'm still in high school and I have no problem tearing your argument to bits. Get yourself a fucking education! No, really I mean it: Go back to school, get a diploma, then go to college and study biology. Obtain a degree, take a post-graduate course specializing in some field of evolutionary biology and get an MS, or even a PhD. Once you've done all that, you can set about finding evidence to prove your claims and publish them as a peer-reviewed study in a scientific journal. Until then, do try and have at least some minor understanding of subjects you talk about, especially if you're attempting to disprove a scientific theory that is basically the backbone of biology.

Oh and please don't push your beliefs on me, or for that matter, anyone else. If you think that you'll be judged by some holy power after your death, then that's fine (although I think even a sadistic fuck like God wouldn't let a douchebag like you in) but don't judge me by your religion's standards.

Cheers

Anonymous, you didn't actually tell Steve Jenkins where he went wrong.

No, evolution doesn't generate more 'intelligent' DNA. Organisms with an advantage over their fellow organisms are more likely to survive and therefore pass on these genes, which are improved by random mutations. Let me break it down:

A mollusc with a mutated light sensitive patch will be able to tell when it's light or dark, meaning that it will be able to tell when a predator walks in front of it, blocking out the light (very simple I know, but you seem to need it). This may trigger a fight or flight reaction, and the mollusc is more likely to survive. It's a small chance, but the time frame we're talking about is huge.

So, this mollusc with a light sensitive patch goes on to live another day, and what do you know, he finds a foxy female mollusc and they get it on. Maybe this female mollusc has a light sensitive patch too, and therefore their offspring are more likely to have one.

Maybe this female mollusc doesn't have this special patch, so only one participant in the mollusc lovemaking passes on the gene responsible for the patch. It honestly doesn't matter, because this process takes place over millions of years, and gradually, as the ill equipped molluscs with no light sensitive patches die out due to being eaten, and the molluscs with patches grow in number and pass on their genes, the eye gently evolves, because molluscs with better mutations thrive and reproduce, and the mutations eventually lead to the very things you use to see the ill informed comments you write.

I honestly shouldn't have to explain this to you. I have a GCSE in biology. That's a secondary education for crying out loud.

I guess this video assumed people had a basic knowledge of how evolution works.

i do appreciate the breakdown and i do understand what the theory of evolution espouses. i was indoctrinated my whole life by my PhD family. and i love how you suggest only smart ppl can understand this stuff. like i said, faith in human reason.

evolution is based on mutations. if mutation, and advantage in survival, then there's the chance of that basic organism passing along the mutation to its offspring which doesn't always happen. and then the disadvantaged organism die off, however we still see organisms around today that are supposed stepping stones in evolution and they've unfortunately been stuck in time with no mutations to pass on.

the theory is bunk and based purely on interpreting science through a millions-of-years rate-of-change bias so don't tell me what you do is science. keep adding more millions of years and of course anything can happen!

it's religion. it takes faith to believe that something that is completely non-verifiable by the scientific method somehow provides clues to the origin of our species.

seek the truth and it shall set you free. seriously. consider that maybe there are other explanations for the natural world that we observe. science demands it.

Sure Steve, Science does demand that we seek other explanations. Explanations backed by evidence and that are verifiable. The Bible is not that and it is not science. The errors and falsehoods you've been fed in the name of creationism and ID aren't science. The Book of Genesis isn't science

Until someone else comes up with a better theory that has more evidence, experimental verification and better explains the multitudes of facts not only in biology but numerous other disciplines, I'll stick with the current theory that has mounds of independently verified evidence, experimental verification and best explains facts in Biology and facts in other disciplines.

Wow, Steve. You basically just regurgitated what I said (albeit far less eloquently) and then called it bunk, without any reasons as to why.

Instead, you say that faith is better than rationality, and call the science of evolution 'unverifiable'. Do some research, seriously. There's so much proof of evolution.

Seek the proof.

(And by the way, science wouldn't demand we ask ourselves: "How did we come to be?" and then answer "God did it" as an alternative to evolution.)

Steve... I don't think you understand the mistakes that you are making in your conceptualization of evolution.

If mutations are random, many mutations will offer no advantage whatsoever, but they aren't detriments either, so the trait gets passed on simply because it didn't cause a problem. Things like eye color don't offer much of an advantage, but they don't cause you to get killed off either.

Of course, we'll still have organisms that haven't changed much recently because they are pretty well adapted to their environment, so changes over little advantage.

Of course, once that environment changes, you may see a "spurt" in evolution as the creatures that were more adapted (not purposefully, but randomly) to the new changes survive and breed.

Of course this takes billions of years, so it's a good thing that the world is 4 billion plus years old.

The fact that you talk about "intelligent" DNA or the fact that organisms aren't passing on mutations (they are, just not big ones) shows that you DO NOT understand evolution at all.

Because you as of yet ignorant (not unintelligent, just uninformed) about the facts of processes of evolutionary change, it doesn't make sense to you. You then look for simpler, which for you is "God made us this way."

However, this begs the question of where did God come from? What happened before that? Why is the world older than 6,000 years? I think you need to read more or talk more to your "PhD. family" to correct your false assumptions.

Good luck.
