Batteries powered by water

A Japanese inventor unveils what he calls the "next generation of eco-friendly energy sources" - batteries powered by water. Suzuki says these batteries would be cheap to produce and can be recycled several times, making them an essential tool for the future.

It is an amazing invention that would never be allowed to see the light of day in the USA.

First - it's not new. Water activated batteries already exist.

Second - it's not "powered" by water. Water is not the fuel. The water activates it, but it can not be renewed by water after it fails.

It is not powered by water. Water is needed for charge conduction. This battery is special because it's expiration date is far into the future. Water isn't very useful as a power source because H20 is a fairly unreactive molecule as far as batteries are concerned.
